Reigate Priory Museum

Reigate Priory

PLEASE NOTE: The Museum is closed at present for essential repair and redecoration following snow damage to roof and ceilings and further structural damage to the Reigate Priory building. The Museum will be closed until further notice.

Reigate Priory is a grade 1 listed building set in 65 acres of open parkland with a pond, woodland and playing fields only a few hundred yards from the centre of Reigate town, which is situated at the foot of the North Downs. There are seats within the park grounds.

The building is home to Reigate Priory Museum and Reigate Priory School. The museum presents exhibitions on a wide range of subjects designed to appeal to both adults and children. It has a collection of local history and domestic items as well as period costumes. These are used within creative and atmospheric settings to stage exhibitions depicting various aspects of life in the past.

The new exhibition "From Rationing to Rock n' Roll - Life in Post War Britain" has now opened.

The Museum is open from Easter to early December, every Wednesday and Saturday during term time. Opening hours 2pm to 4.30pm. We shall be closed on Wednesday 27th May for half term but open again each Wednesday and Saturday afternoon from Saturday 30th May to Wednesday 21st July. Public admission is free. School and adult groups are very welcome but should book in advance.

The nearest car park is in Bell Street and is a 2 minute walk away. Reigate railway station is approximately a 10 minute walk away. Buses 32, 420, 435, 460 and the Leigh Post bus all stop in the town centre.

There is a wide entrance, and once inside, the building is generally accessible for wheelchair users as the doorways are wide and everything is on the ground floor. Refreshments can be arranged for booked parties. There is a gift shop.
